Material Overview: What is Titanium Carbide (TiC)?
Titanium Carbide (TiC) is a typical transition metal carbide with the following properties:
* High hardness and excellent wear resistance: Vickers hardness up to HV 2800–3200;
* High melting point: about 3160 °C, suitable for high-temperature applications;
* Outstanding chemical stability and corrosion resistance: stable in most chemical environments;
* Good thermal conductivity and relatively low density (compared with WC): beneficial for weight reduction;
* Capability to form cermets with metallic binders: such as TiC–Ni, TiC–Co, or multiphase systems (TiC/TiN/TaC), combining hardness with toughness.

Typical Applications
* Cutting tools and wear-resistant components: such as inserts for ferrous metal machining, punches, nozzles, and valve seats.
* Molds and forming parts: hot-press molds, drawing dies, cold heading dies.
* High-temperature and corrosion-resistant components: furnace fixtures, wear-resistant bushings, sealing rings.
* Surface engineering precursor: used as a hard phase in coatings or composite layers.
Titanium Carbide (TiC) Vacuum Sintering
During the preparation of titanium carbide, vacuum sintering plays a vital role in achieving densification and enhancing performance. Brother Furnace’s vacuum sintering furnaces operate under high temperatures and stable vacuum conditions, effectively preventing oxidation and contamination while ensuring uniform temperature distribution. With our equipment, customers can obtain high-purity, high-strength TiC products that meet the requirements of both research institutions and industrial production.
